Before the start of my adulthood, my work encompassed lush, vibrant fine arts and bold, precise illustrations. My artwork is executed in a realistic style with strong emphasis on detail, color and strong contour lining to capture the true essence of the subject with a minimalist approach. I prefer gouache paint as my primary medium, the process of discipline, patience, and grace, and thus, creating magnificent visual effects.
I pursue compositions depicting pivotal moments and experiences overlaid with inspiration and profound sentimental values. My palette of warm, bold colors reflects the impressions of understanding color values at a pivotal moment in my life. I have an affinity for compositions of desert landscapes, sunsets, and the visual and spiritual aspects of Southwestern Native American art; these influences can manifest subliminally from my choice palette. Old master painter Girodet, John Tylk, Tom Linden, Doug Klauba, Adam Hughes, Anthony Kosar, Michael Turner, Bill Watterson and Carla Wysgala are among the artists with impressive drawing styles and keen eyes for composition that continually influence my work.
My motive is to give transcending happiness from my own experiences found in my artwork over to the viewer and promote social justice in my critiques on society. The themes focus on preserving the simple beauty of nature, the nostalgia of youth, my assessment on society and pop culture, and the presence of everlasting goodness in the absence of hope. Reflection arises from listening to a song, observing nature, or most often, reliving the chapters of my life, past and present. My art is a means of escape to better days, social awareness and spiritual enlightenment.
